Georgia State University is continuing to implement the third phase of its organizational structure in preparation for its consolidation with Georgia Perimeter College. In October, the university announced that Georgia State’s Vice Presidents would review requirements and personnel within their areas to further develop the organizational structures in their units. In some cases, the reviews have been completed, and employees at both institutions have been informed of changes in their areas. In other cases, particularly in units that are large and complex, the reviews are continuing and personnel decisions are still being made.

Below is a more detailed breakdown of staffing updates as of Nov. 20, 2015.

Enrollment Management and Student Success

In October 2015 the leadership for each of the following areas was announced:

·      Undergraduate Admissions

·      International Student and Scholar Services

·      Financial Aid

·      Student Accounts

·      Financial Outreach

·      Academic Advisement

·      Student Success

·      Career Services

·      Banner Office

After these announcements were made, the appointed directors where charged with filling out their individual organization charts. There are no planned reductions in most offices and no planned reductions at the front-line employee level. Directors have communicated this news to the front-line employees. There will be about four or five management positions across the division for which there will be competitions. These competitions will be completed by the time of the consolidation vote by the Board of Regents or shortly thereafter. These are the only positions that remain in doubt among the 542 across the various offices in the division.

Institutional Effectiveness

There are no planned reductions at the front-line employee level in this area.

Finance and Administration

Most leadership positions have been filled and work is continuing on appointments at each of the next levels in the organization.

Police

There are no planned reductions at the front-line employee level in this area.

Instructional Innovation and Technology

Changes have been made and communicated to employees.

Student Affairs

Leadership positions have been filled and work is continuing on appointments at each of the next levels in the organization.

Government Relations

Changes have been made and communicated to employees.

Development and Alumni Relations

Work has begun on the merging of the boards and work is continuing on the appointments at each level of the organization.

Public Relations and Marketing Communications

Changes have been made and communicated to employees.

Perimeter College Faculty

There will be no reduction in tenured and tenure-track faculty as a result of consolidation. There will be a reduction in the number of Chairs, down to one for each major area. This will be largely offset by a number of newly created Associate Chair positions.

Office of the Vice Provost and Dean, Perimeter College

There will be only one Perimeter College Dean post-consolidation. This change will be largely offset by the newly created positions of Associate Dean (Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Business, English, Sciences, Math Computer Science and Engineering, and Online). There are still some minor issues to be clarified at the Associate Dean level, but as soon as these are resolved discussions will begin on the appointments of Chairs and Associate Chairs.
